Care and Treatment

Alongside your gynaecologist and midwife, stands a paediatric specialist doctor to help you welcome your baby to earth and care for them until they are of age. Paediatric Specialists are well trained to manage physical, behavioural, emotional and mental care for children from birth up until the age of 18 years old. While some babies are born full term and healthy, others are born prematurely with critical medical conditions such as low birth weight, neonatal jaundice associated with preterm delivery, congenital pneumonia due to other organisms and respiratory distress syndrome of newborns, to name a few.

Since Dr Ramaboea’s focus is solely on the health of your little ones, he is able to work more efficiently in diagnosing and treating them because his main aim is to help you get your child’s health back on track and to maintain their good health!

Regular check-ups for newborns
2 weeks check-up for premature/preterm babies
6 weeks check-up for full term babies
General check-ups at 3 months, 6 months and 12 months

What to Expect

A typical appointment may include:

Physical examination from head to toe.
Examining your baby to see if they are growing well and healthy while reaching all their developmental milestones in growth, behaviour, and skills.
Give recommendations for their immunisations.
Diagnosis and treatment of your child’s illnesses, infections or injuries.
Advice on the wellbeing, fitness, health, safety and nutrition that best suits your child.
Answers to any of your questions and concerns with regards to your child's health, growth and development.
Referral to or collaboration with other experienced specialists in different fields, should your child not respond to treatment given.

Medical Aid

Please Note!

The following medical aids are contracted/registered with Dr Ramaboea and the consultation fee will be fully covered with no additional costs or co-payment from the member:

Please note that most medical aids require an authorisation number or a letter of authorisation from your general practitioner (GP) in order to cover costs for the specialist consultation. Please visit your GP prior to your visit with Dr Ramaboea, if your medical aid requires you to do so. We would recommend that you contact your medical aid provider or call our rooms in this regard to avoid unprepared cash payment for your consultation.
